When I think about the story of our family, one person always shines brightest my mom, Lorna Tandog Villaseñor, or as we lovingly call her, “Mamma Nhene.” She has been a strong and steady presence in our lives, someone whose strength and discipline have quietly shaped who we are.
Mom’s journey is deeply connected to the history of San Jose, Romblon. She was the first Lady Mayor of our town during a very important time, the Transition period of 1986 under the Aquino administration. Even though her role as Officer in Charge was brief, her influence was profound. During those challenging days, Mom led with honesty and a clear vision for a better community.
What means the most to me is how she brought that same strength and sense of responsibility into our home. Mom was strict but fair, teaching me the importance of discipline and humility. Her guidance wasn’t just about rules, it was about building character. Because of her, I grew into the person I am today. She inspired me to serve our country.
Today, I see Mom’s kindness and love shining through her role as a grandmother. My children: Maria Noelle, Emmanuel Miguel, and Mariah Fleur de Lys call her Mamma Nhene, and she fills their lives with warmth and joy.
This is more than just a family story. For me, it’s a reminder of how essential values like resilience, dedication, and love are passed down from one generation to the next. Mom’s legacy is at the very heart of who we are, lighting our way as we continue our journey.
